Meet David Kearney

David Kearney

A true public servant, David Kearney has devoted more than 36 years to protecting and serving the residents of Wyandotte County. After graduating from F.L. Schlagle High School in 1982, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving as an Infantryman at Ft. Benning, Ft. Riley, and with the Kansas National Guard, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant.


Kearney began his law enforcement career with the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office in 1990, working in detention and court transport before joining the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department in 1991. There, he steadily rose through the ranks, achieving the rank of Sergeant in 1999 and retiring as a Master Sergeant in 2015.

Throughout his distinguished law enforcement career, Kearney took on a variety of leadership roles, including Field Training Officer, Public Information Officer, Dispatch Supervisor, and Patrol Sergeant.


Since 1996, Kearney has continued his commitment to public safety as Director of Security at Rogers Wholesale Liquor.


A devoted family man, David and his wife Amy have a blended family of seven children, ranging in age from 16 to 41.
